Pre-pay for Cremation with a Maine Mortuary Trust
Our mission at Downeast Direct Cremation is to serve the needs of those people desiring direct disposition that is simple, affordable and respectful. We provide cremation to people who do not require or wish for public or private viewing before cremation, religious or funerary rites or ceremonies, or the other convenience services of a traditional funeral provider.
A Mortuary Trust allows for prepayment of cremation services into a fund where your money is protected for use at a later date. Prepayment guarantees the price, and prepayment can be refunded, should your plans change.
Maine Law requires that any money given to pay for final expenses, prior to the death, be set aside in a Mortuary Trust. Because establishing the Trust requires four to six weeks to complete, it is not an option for someone who is imminently or actively dying or expected to pass away in two months or less.
